DESCRIPTION
DCL Packers are used primarily as upper packers in multiple packer,parallel-string installations because of their extra large through-packer bores.Yet,they can also be used for other applications with the necessary accessories. With the exception of the Flapper Valve,the same accessories are available for the DCL as the other MAP packers. Screw-Out and NOK-Out plugs are available for easy conversion of the DCL to a temporary bridge plug. Seal-Bore Extensions for deep wells are easily attached to the DCL. The J-Latch receiving head on the DCL allows automatic engagement of the tubing as it is lowered into the packer. The J-Latch disengages with a simple 1/3 turn to the right of the tubing at the packer. This feature makes anchoring tubing a simple operation,saving costly rig time when landing and retrieving seal units and accessories. No-Slot Locator Subs are available for non-anchoring applications.
Like other packers, The DCL Packer is designed for fast running and superior reliability during and after setting. Rocker-action,metal backup rings provide sturdy metal-to-metal contact with the casing, preventing extrusion of the multi-hardness rubber packing element,even at high pressures and temperatures. An internal ratchet lock-ring provides constant pressure, maintaining the dynamic sealing force induced into the packer during setting. Casehardened slips bite into the casing to assure the packer remains set. Their one-piece construction gives added protection against accidental trip-ping and the resultant premature setting when debris is encountered downhole.
