Description

Features/working principles

The MCHR-N Hydraulic packer is a hydraulically actuated casing packer. It is set purely hydraulically and can be run in one or more sets together. It is particularly suitable for use in inclined Wells where mechanically set and wireline set packers are not suitable for running. Setting the packer eliminates the need to move the tubing, which keeps the well in a controlled state because after running the line, a wellhead device needs to be installed before circulating or displacing the tubing fluid to set the packer. Two or more packers may be set at once or in sequence in order of design.

The packer's sealing system consists of three sections of two hardness cylinders, hydraulic anchors and lower slips located on the packer to withstand the high pressure difference between up and down. The lower end slips can be retracted sufficiently in the lower end cone to prevent their outside diameter from exceeding the outside diameter of the release sleeve, resulting in casing bump during running.

The balanced piston of the packer plays an important role in the setting process. The lower piston moves down to extrude the cylinder and open the slip to set on the casing. This action exerts full hydraulic pressure on the slip and the cylinder to ensure the anchorage of the slip and the sealing of the cylinder. At the same time, the packer's unique ratchet lock ring device will lock and maintain the setting force to make the slip and cartridge setting effective.

The MCHR-N hydraulic packer can be unsealed simply by lifting the string. In the unsealing mechanism, the pressure balancing and bypass devices are also designed to make the unsealing easier. On the other hand, the up-lift release of the tubing is done by cutting the shear pin on the pre-set inner center pipe. The tubing is then lifted to fully release the packer for extraction. In addition, a bypass valve with a large aperture under the cartridge bushing allows rapid fluid flow while the packer is extracted from the top to reduce wear on the cartridge.

The MCHR-N hydraulic packer has the following features:

Can be set in any class of casing, including P110 casing

Especially suitable for use in inclined Wells

Tubing compression setting

Lift and unseal

The sealing system consists of three sections of two kinds of hardness

The bidirectional integral slips under the sealing system are set firmly and can withstand the bidirectional pressure difference

Eight shear pins are installed on the lower liner and inner center pipe of the packer. The number can be reduced to vary the size of the setting and release forces. Each shear pin has a shear force of 3,500 LBS (1.6 tons).
